This week on THE KATY, I am helping celebrate the release of the anthology “Bite Sized Offerings,” which many authors wrote to help pay for a little girl’s medical bills. This coming Saturday (9/5) from 12PM- 10PM CST, is the “Bite Sized Offerings” release party on Facebook! Join the event here! In preparation for this awesome party for such a wonderful cause, I am interviewing several authors from the anthology. (Check out the other interviews here)
Today’s author for my Bite Sized Interview is author Michelle Bryan.
You can find out more about Michelle on her website.
Thank you for joining me here on THE KATY today, Michelle!
How did you decide that you wanted to be a writer?
Ever since I was a kid, I lived and breathed books. From Nancy Drew, to Stephen King, I couldn’t get enough. Always wanted to write for as long as I can remember. Finally attempted it, decades later. Yeah, I’m a bit of a procrastinator 🙂
Any people, books, or movies that inspired you to pursue your dream?
Stephen King’s The Stand, was my introduction to the apocalyptic world, and I immediately fell in love with the genre. I knew then, that was what I wanted to write.
Are you a plotter or a panster?
I try to be a plotter, I really do! I outline every chapter of my books, but then my characters take on a mind of their own and my outline goes right out the window! I just play along and let them lead me as they may.
How did you start writing dystopian?
Since I fell in love with the apocalyptic genre, that sort of basically goes hand in hand with dystopian.
What does the Band of Dystopian Authors and Fans group on Facebook mean to you?
They have been a wealth of information and support. The number of amazing authors on that site is incredible!
Are you self published?
I did self publish my first novel, Awaken, which is book one of my New Bloods Trilogy, but signed with Winlock Press for the whole trilogy.
Why did you choose to go this route?
Being brand new in this industry, I was grateful to have the backing and advice of such a wonderful company.
Can you tell me about any of your recent projects?
Book two of my trilogy, Ascension, is being released this month. And finishing up my novel, Strain of Resistance, which is the full length story that grew from my anthology story.
How did you get involved with “Bite Sized Offerings?”
I met Mysti through Winlock Press as a beta reader, and a friendship grew from there. She has been a huge supporter of my work and I love her for that. When she asked me to write a story for this wonderful cause, I was absolutely thrilled, so of course I said ‘YES!”
Can you tell us a little bit about your role in the anthology?
All I did was provide a story 🙂 It was an honor to be included with the rest of these amazing writers. This is my first zombie type story, so I am nowhere near as good as the rest of these pros. But the amount of work and effort they put into this project is overwhelming.
What do you see as a future? Are zombies a possibility?
For sure! As I said, my WIP is a continuation of my short story, just because I enjoyed writing it so much.
Do you have a favorite zombie book, movie, or show?
I’m sure I have the same answer as everyone on this, but TWD. Best show ever!
