What makes the indie book community special?

When I was asked to be an official blogger for the Ozarks Indie Book Fest, I said yes immediately. Not only do I love reading and writing, I understand that the indie/self-published book community is very special. As a book blogger, I wanted to be a deeper part of this and become involved in this awesome new convention idea that will take place this coming October in Springfield, MO.

So, why is the indie book community so special?

  1. We are creative. Self-published authors spin amazing tales that you can’t even dream of until you pick up some of their books. I could see MANY of them becoming movies someday and I hope they do!
  2. We are each others’ cheerleaders. We share everything. We suggest an amazing book cover artist or editor that someone should check out and help make marketing easier by doing so (ugh…marketing…).
  3. ¬†We are a tribe. Attending a convention like the OIBF is something you have to experience to explain. I’ve been to a few book cons before and they are all different and wonderful in their own way. But all of them had this amazing feeling of community that you really can’t find anywhere else.

I can’t wait to see how this convention goes in October!

Grab your tickets and check out the Keynotes and other attending authors here!

I would like to share a table with a friend. How do I arrange that? We have already paid for 1/2 table each.

Hi Nancy! I would contact Jaci Chaney on the Ozark Indie Book Fest Facebook page! (Sorry for the delay in reply…)
