RIP Sir Terry Pratchett

I chose this book to review for a high school class. I think everyone thought I was crazy as I spoke about it with such excitement…I had to share the joy I received from Discworld.

I feel the need to write about the trending news plastered all over the web today. One of my favorite authors of all time, Sir Terry Pratchett, has died. Terry was an amazing author and although I never met or knew him personally, he was my childhood. My sister, brother, and I read all of his books over the long summer vacations from school. I believe he turned me into the avid reader (and writer) I am today. If someone can create an entire detailed world, like Discworld, that sucks the reader into the depths for novel after novel for years and years….that person is a great author. Now that I have a house of my own with space for bookshelves, I am going to continue collecting all of Terry’s books. Then, someday, I can share Discworld with my children and continue creating a new love for reading in others. So, thank you Terry. Thank you for your beautiful words, kind heartedness, and for creating a world such as Discworld. Rest in peace, Sir Terry Pratchett. I definitely shed a few tears for your passing at work today.

Well said! He was such an awesome writer, funny, witty, adept at detail, and a magnificent wielder of words. His not so subtle humor often has me laughing uncontrollably and I’m grateful to have been introduced to some of his work by a good friend. Cheers!
