Wow! We’re already to the letter “K” in this amazing blogging challenge. I’ve discovered many new blogs that I never would’ve if it weren’t for this challenge and picked up a few new readers as well! If you’re new to my blog, welcome! To see other blogs participating in the A to Z Challenge, click here. To see what my theme is all about, click here.

K is for Kylo Ren today. Kylo is the main baddie in Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, he is the son of Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa (original name is Ben Solo). Unfortunately, he turned to the Dark Side of the Force and left them to become evil. He also idolizes his grandfather, Darth Vader.

If you have seen the movie, you already have your opinions about Kylo Ren. I happen to be in the “I love him and think he is going to be freakin’ awesome once he learns to control his emotions.” Many people complain that Kylo has way too many tantrums and throws stuff when he’s angry. You would be too if your head was being messed with by the Dark Side. It’s a lot to deal with and Kylo Ren is still young. I think he will be even more powerful in episode VIII. SO excited. We’ll see which side of the Kylo Ren opinion wins then. 😉 Now that Kylo Ren sees what a contender Rey is, even before she is trained, he is going to become even stronger to compete with her.

Even though I think this character is LEGIT, I also love the parody twitter account set up for him @EmoKyloRen. Hilarious. Please check it out! (Note: I am not the one running the parody account, just a fan).

What do you think about Kylo Ren? Will he live up to his Grandfather’s (evil part of) legacy? Or will he fall under the pressure? <–This sounds like a to be continued…sort of thing on a TV show.

I am still on the fence about Kylo Ren myself but I think that he has potential and I look forward to seeing where they go with it.

That is a great way to look at it. VII left so many new questions to be answered and Kylo Ren’s potential is definitely one of them.

I’m with you. I think he’s going to be a great character! I personally love watching the growth of younger characters. It’s so fascinating (and refreshing) and often times hits close to home. We weren’t all so well-equipped to handle our feelings when we were young. Albeit he’s a little bit more…you know.

Heck, some days I’m STILL not in control of my emotions much! 😀

Agreed! And I think he’s handling things a lot better than Anakin did. Yikes, was that guy whiny in episodes 2 and 3. Thanks for the input!

I have to agree with you Katy. I think this could be one of the best characters in the franchise. He’s layered and though we only got a brief glimpse into his inner turmoil in this first part of the new series, I believe there is much to be explored. Though I gotta say I was hoping for a bit more backstory, we may very well get that in the future so I’ll just hope it comes to pass.

Yes! Thank you. 100% agree. I think we’ll get more of his back story and definitely Rey’s in the next installment.

I wrote about Star Wars for K too, but in a totally different way. : )

The jury’s out. I hope he’s not as much of a disappointment as both character and actor as Hayden Christiansen was. Also can I just say I wish they had done something different with the names? Ren/Rey – whenever I hear his name, I always think they’re talking about Ren and have to correct myself.

Anything is better than Hayden. Ugh.

Can’t forgive him for what he’s done. Some actions are more than mistakes you can fix and what he did on that bridge falls into that category. Good post. https://mhsusannematthews.wordpress.com/

One can argue that he needed to do that certain thing to become truly evil. I think he accomplished that goal…but yes, definitely unforgivable!

I very much hope they do something interesting with him; he could be a great character like the baddies before him. I love the fact he is so uncontrolled – it makes him that much more interesting. Also, that twitter account is gold – so funny.
