Magic. It’s something most of us geek out about and wish we could do. Who wouldn’t want to be able to levitate objects or open invisible doors with a magic word? Today, I want to talk about a few different fandoms that use magic. Feel free to add your own favorites in the comments!

Harry Potter

You all knew I was going to start with this one, didn’t you? J.K. Rowling gave us all a beautiful world filled with wonder and magic. Not only did this world give us amazing adventures to follow, but it made us feel like magic was possible…or at least fun to pretend for awhile. Have you seen the videos and photos from Harry Potter World at Universal Studios in Florida? I NEED to go there. It looks absolutely amazing!

One new addition to this world is “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” which is being made into a movie. I wasn’t 100% sure about it when I first heard about it, but have you seen the trailer? I’m sold.

Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit

Gandalf is one of my favorite characters. My kindle is actually named “The Grey” which may show how geeky I am…but if you didn’t realize this by now, you are probably ALSO that geeky. Gandalf helps protect the Fellowship from danger with his magic. Though the magic in LOTR is a lot more subtle than in Harry Potter (flashy kids these days…), it is no less powerful. Often, the words are said in a whisper before help arrives. Absolutely amazing.

It’s time. Give me some more magic to watch!

I’m thinking hard, but all I can come up with are books… Rivers of London for example, …

You picked two of the best 🙂 Merlin has awesome magic and have you seen Dr Mordrid with Jeffrey Combs? Cheesy, but still awesome.

Ooo! Great choices. I need to look up Dr. Mordrid though. I am OK with cheesy!

  3. Classic choices indeed, but you forgot about awesome older shows like Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer for awesome magickal chicks. True Blood, probably my personal favorite, and anyone that knows me knows how much I adore Charmed! lol
