O is for [The] Oatmeal

Really, Katy? Oatmeal? No, dear readers, The Oatmeal. I won’t be talking about a delicious, but mushy breakfast food for the letter ‘O’. Instead, I’ll be covering the webcomic, The Oatmeal.

The Good: The Oatmeal is a hilarious web comic that covers topics from proper grammar, interesting animals, technology, and more. Recently, the Oatmeal partnered with Elan Lee and Shane Small to create a Kickstarter campaign called “Exploding Kittens.” Don’t worry, it’s a card game! And it is officially the most backed campaign in the history of Kickstarter (for now). I am happy to say that I was one of the 219,382 backers to help this game become reality. You can view the funded campaign here.

The Bad: What is there to complain about The Oatmeal when he makes people laugh, gives honest opinions, and is an avid long distance runner? I’m not sure if I can find a downside to be honest! I mean, I guess I could say I was jealous, but I’m really not. I am happy that one person can bring so much joy to so many people! I wouldn’t say no to his Tesla car though…it sounds awesome.

The Katy: I haven’t played Exploding Kittens yet, but it looks awesome! There are groups play-testing the game now, so every backer should be receiving their copies soon. If you are super jealous, first read my post on Jealousy and then just keep an eye on the internet. The game hopefully will be available soon (don’t quote me because I really have no idea)!

There were so many links in this one! I hope you read and like the Oatmeal comics. Let me know which one is your favorite below. 🙂

I love The Oatmeal! Sometimes his humor seems like he’s trying a little too hard, but most of the time he makes me laugh and even think!

I *love* the Oatmeal! His comics about the Blerch ring so true to my experiences with running. I wish he’d have a Blerch run near me! Might be worth traveling to one someday 🙂
